Ok, so I went ahead and took the plunge at making cupcakes from scratch. My sister is going to be coming into town for her birthday. So, I decided to make her some cupcakes. Though, I wanted to make them from scratch. I figure, the more effort I put into making them, the more special they will seem. I planned on doing a test run. Just to make sure I don’t screw them up royally when she arrives. Here are some pics of what went on.

The mix is coming together. Took a lot more food coloring than anticipated.
While the cupcakes were baking, I went ahead and put together the icing. I still have a ton of it left over… awesome!
Timer went off, pulled the cupcakes out of the oven… now, time to cool off.

They turned out really good. I was rather surprised at myself. Not to mention the fact that I managed to not burn down my kitchen! haha I had a really good time making these delicious little bastards. My friends Jason and Heather came over to do some taste testing. I got two thumbs up! Hopefully, my sister will enjoy them as well. I think that I am going to attempt to complete a recipe a week.
